A Day of Remembrance
I know this post is a day late, so I apologize now. I wanted to take a quick moment to remember one of the worst recorded Earthquake events in modern history. It occurred on Friday, March 11th, 2011 off of the Pacific coast of Tohoku, Japan with an approximate magnitude of 9.1 and lasted for about 6 minutes.
It triggered a gigantic tsunami that measured approximately 133 ft. in height. The total loss of life from this natural disaster was 15,896 dead. 6,157 people were injured and 2,537 are still missing.
As of March 6th, 2018 there have been 13,386 aftershocks. The total damage cost was $360 Billion USD, which made this event the costliest natural disaster in history
